We collect you from your hotel at 9 am and drive to Esna, around 1 hour away, where our ship is anchored.

But before we hoist the sails, we will visit the Khnum Temple of Esna <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Esna>; . Despite its sleepy atmosphere, it is unjustifiably overshadowed by its more monumental cousins. Only the portico of the original temple building remains, but its 24 columns over 13 meters in height with lotus-leaf capitals are a highlight of pharaonic architecture. Let your gaze drift higher and drink in the beauty of this luxuriant stone vegetation.

After marveling at these wonders of the ancient world, you are ready for your magical cruise.

  • Day 6  Sailing to Edfu and Wadi Shatt

Today we sail to Edfu where you will encounter a temple dating back to the end – and, simultaneously, the culmination of an architectural tradition spanning over 3 millennia. This pharaonic temple was dedicated to Horus, the falcon god, celebrated here in many text and image cycles. Explore the many chambers and halls with us and marvel at the immensity and magnificence of these monuments.

You now have time to digest your impressions on the deck of our ship while the Nile Valley glides past. We soon arrive at the wadi of Shatt er-Rigale, where you can stroll through lush green palm groves on the very fringe of the barren, inhospitable desert. We will anchor in Gebel el Silsila.

  • Day 7 Gabel el Silsila and Kom ombo

The chain of sandstone cliffs at Gebel el Silsila was used as a gigantic quarry, where tons of stone was chiseled for many of the pharaonic temples we have already visited on our dahabiya tour. But this was also the location of numerous shrines and cult buildings, including the famous Great Speos of Pharaoh Horemheb and the fascinating Nile chapels from the New Kingdom, once chosen to be inundated by the Nile in the annual flooding.

Our next stop is the Temple of Kom Ombo

Located on a bend of the Nile. The exceptionally beautiful double temple of Kom Ombo construction of which began in the Ptolemaic dynasty was dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon god Haroeris. Sobek was celebrated by the burial of countless mummified crocodiles, whose astonishingly well-preserved bodies are on display today in a museum.

  • Day 8 Sailing to Daraw

In the small town of Daraw, we take you to a private camel stable where you can take a close look at the lovely camels. Afterward, we take a stroll through the busy and colorful market streets of the town and stop in a local coffee shop to watch the bustle some more.

  • Day 9 Disembark in Aswan

After a final substantial breakfast on our dahabiya, Captain Mohammed and his crew bid you farewell.

Today’s sightseeing includes:

Aswan High Dam: visit the famous Aswan High

Dam, an engineering miracle used as an embankment dam situated across the Nile River, was built in the 1960s to protect Egypt from annual floods.

Temple of Philae: visit the great Philae island temple. a boat trip to the Temple of Philae, which was built in honor of the goddess Isis.

Unfinished Obelisk: Continue to the Unfinished Obelisk in the granite quarries of Aswan where much of the red granite used for ancient temples and colossi came from. The Unfinished Obelisk located in the Northern Quarry still lies where it was carved when a crack was discovered as it was being hewn from the rock. Your qualified Egyptologist guide will explain how the 1-tonne obelisk was carved, and why the crack caused it to be abandoned.

Check-in your hotel in Aswan

  • Day 10: Abu Simbel ( optional )

Transfer from Aswan to Hurghada

The Temple of Abu Simbel, in the south of Aswan along with Lake Nasser’s reinforcement, is the most notorious in all of Egypt after the Giza Pyramids. Constructed by the greatest of the pharaohs, Ramses II, which made it also known as the Temple of Ramses II or Ramses II, these huge gemstone-cut tabernacles marked the southern boundary of the Egyptian Empire with Nubia at the peak of its power during the New Kingdom.

In a restaurant, it is good to give between 5 and 10% tips to the waiter. For a small favor, like carrying luggage or parking a car, a few Egyptian pounds would be appropriate. No less than five. Often times in Egypt you will find someone tending to the bathroom to keep it clean. Giving them a few Egyptian pounds is an appropriate amount. If you decide to tip feel free to give what you think your experience was worth.

There are many touristic areas in Egypt where special concerns are not necessary; however, in less touristic places, relatively modest dress is recommended. Women should avoid very tight clothing, dressing with relative modesty is a way of respecting the local culture.
